In February Lydia joined the school concert band, playing flute. And Benjamin joined the training band and took up Trumpet. They have both really enjoyed being part of a band, even if it does mean they have 2 band practices a week - one of which starts at 8am! - plus an individual tutor lesson.
There are 3-4 competitions throughout the year where various schools participate - some small, one which lasts several days due to the sheer number of schools involved. It's a great opportunity to perform in front of a large audience as well as having something to aim for. The standard is very good for primary school students, and I have enjoyed watching them improve and perform.
