What a blast! Our apartment was just round the corner from Darling Harbour so we set off around 5pm to get a good spot for the NYE fireworks.
Fortunately, although lots of people were milling around, not many were set up on the steps and seating for the show later. We got a great spot near one of the stages with a good view of one the firework barges on the water. Happily it was also near the food hall! Later on, it got more and more crowded - standing room only!
At 6pm a concert started which was great fun, a Mowtown/3 Degrees show. It was excellent, gave the place a really great party atmosphere and also helped pass the time.
The 9pm fireworks were awesome - they just kept on going and going, we were amazing at how good they were. We had such a fun evening and it was really nice to just be able to stroll back to the apartment in ten minutes and not have to worry about the crowds or how long it would take to get home.
Back in the apartment we relaxed and waited for the midnight fireworks - which we watched half via the tv and half out of the windows - Happy New Year everyone!
